MMA Heavyweight Kimbo Slice is on fire and this week he will face the biggest test of his career against MMA legend Ken Shamrock. The Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock fight in Miami is an Elite XC event that will be televised on CBS. Slice has become a cult hero for fight fans worldwide thanks to his taped underground fights in the streets of Miami that have been watched on YouTube like video crack. Blood, broken eye sockets and grown men cowering under bare fisted assaults are common place in Kimbo Slice fights. The Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock MMA betting odds are Slice -350.
Kimbo Slice is a hulking physical presence standing at 6'2" and weighing around 230 Lbs. of thick layered muscle. Slice’s boxing hero is Mike Tyson and his style of fighting is similar to Tyson’s as he likes to bob and weave with his hands high looking to land his best punch, the left hook. Slice’s documented bare fisted boxing record is 7-1 with his lone loss coming by way of submission against a tough veteran fighter named Sean Gannon. In his last MMA bout, Kimbo showed some weaknesses. Slice showed that when he is on the mat he still does not have much skill. Slice also has shown a very limited gas tank at the age of 36. Despite his flaws, Kimbo has some legit power and he can take a pretty damn good punch.
MMA insiders have been snickering about Kimbo’s recent choice of opponents. Shamrock will be the toughest test of his Slice’s career despite his recent wins over dead bodies. Shamrock is 45-years old, has thin skin and has lost his last 5 fights. That said, Shamrock is an experienced wrestler that could expose Kimbo if the fight goes to the ground. If Shamrock is unable to get the fight to the ground however, Ken could be stopped in devastating fashion. Shamrock’s punch resistance is below-average at this point of his career. Kimbo Slice is not a very polished fighter, but the man does have above-average handspeed and is a willing brawler. Is Shamrock just here for a payday or is he coming to win is the real question. Kimbo has shown improvement under trainer Bas Rutten, but is this too much of a jump for the street fighter with only 3 official fights?
This is a tough one to call. If I were a betting man (which I am!) I would have to go with the +275 odds being given on Shamrock. If you put the 10-ounce Everlast on Kimbo I would take him all the way. This is the MMA however and Kimbo is simply too green even for an old competitor like Shamrock. Prediction: Shamrock by submission.
