David Haye vs Nikolai Valuev Boxing Odds And Prediction
By Brad Marchetti, Doghouse Boxing (Nov 7, 2009)
November 7th from Germany Frankenstein-like Russian W.B.A heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev will defend his title against #1 contender David Haye. Valuev, 50-1, 34 KO’s, is coming off of a razor close decision win over 46-year old Evander Holyfield as a 10-1 boxing betting favorite last December. The Brit David Haye, 22-1, 21 KO’s, most recently blew away washed up contender Monte Barrett via 5th round KO as a 5-1 boxing betting favorite. The Barrett fight was the former cruiserweight Haye’s 4th appearance as a heavyweight and he will be giving away over 100 Lbs. when he steps into the ring with Valuev. Below is one of our free boxing predictions with in-depth analysis. The Nikolai Valuev vs David Haye line has Haye as a -220 boxing betting favorite.

David Haye Profile: 6’3” 225 Lb. David Haye is premier athlete that has an awesome blend of power and speed. Haye is a classic boxer\puncher that is well-schooled in the fundamentals of boxing with a European style. Haye likes hold his left hand low and keep distance before exploding on his foes with two-fisted assaults. Even at heavyweight the natural cruiserweight Haye is a big puncher that can turn out the lights. Haye has nice agility and great upper-body strength. Haye is solid defensively but he does have a small hole in his defense for right hands and his chin is suspect. Haye’s stamina is also ordinary as he expends a lot of effort in unloading bombs and his musclebound frame is not built for endurance. The Nikolai Valuev vs David Haye Total is at 10.5 rounds with the Over at -180.

Nikolai Valuev Profile: 7’2” 325 Lb. Nikolai Valuev is a slow and plodding boxer that does not hit as hard as his size would suggest. Valuev is also easy to hit but his sheer size makes him a tough outing for anybody. For such a giant Valuev does have decent coordination and throws nice compact punches. Valuev has some offensive tools with a heavy jab and serviceable in-fighting ability. Valuev is also a well-conditioned athlete that wears opponents down by walking them down round after round. The Russian is difficult to hurt with his Volkswagen sized head’s ability to absorb great punishment. Valuev does not like getting hit too much however and some hard shots to his noggin can discourage him.

Boxing Predictions Analysis: Evander Holyfield almost upset Valuev and Haye is a prime version of Evander with the exception of Haye’s suspect chin. Valuev does not have the power to take advantage of Haye’s flaws and he will be target practice for the Brit. This bout will likely be stopped by the referee after Haye tees off on Valuev round after round. Valuev will be game for a few rounds but Haye is going to bust the Russian up.
