Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter says now that David Tua has backed out of his scheduled fight against Shannon Briggs in April, he’d love it if Briggs would agree to face him instead. “Shannon, you talk big and call everybody out, but let’s see if you’re really a man.”

Peter, 25-1 (21 KOs), and Briggs, 45-4-1 (39 KOs), have waged a public war of words for the past year, both saying they are eager to face each other. Peter’s manager, Ivaylo Gotzev, says Team Peter is prepared to sign a contract immediately, and adds that promoter Dino Duva is ready to offer Briggs more money than he would have made for fighting Tua, but also claims he has his doubts about Briggs’ sincerity. “You always said you would fight Sam Peter, this is your chance, so don’t conveniently over-price yourself to get out of it. Just call Dino Duva immediately and we’ll get it on.” Gotzev also says if things go as he expects and Briggs over-prices himself or backs out, his man will be willing to face any heavyweight in the world in April.

“I’m prepared to send Briggs a contract immediately, but if he won’t do it, I will send any heavyweight in the world a contract to fight Sam in April for very significant money, all they have to do is call me,” added Duva.
