WBC Boxing Update

The WBC is bringing its Night of Champions celebration to the United Kingdom - the birthplace of boxing - and a long list of great stars will soon be arriving to attend this memorable three-day event on July 29, 30, and 31 in Cardiff, Wales.

Roberto Duran is on his way with his two children and will meet his former rivals Ken Buchanan and Iran Barkley. Barkley will also meet his former rival, Nigel Benn, and Carlos Zarate and Jeff Harding will have a chance to visit the Cardiff Juvenile Center to talk to kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Toshiaki Nishioka will finally meet in person Rendall Munroe, who is scheduled to challenge him for the world title this October in Japan .

Great champions of today will receive their “Best of 2009 - Green and Gold Fist Awards,” a beautiful bronze sculputure of the right fist of Mike Tyson. Among those receiving awards are Vitali Klitschko, Sergio Martinez, Ina Menzer, Toshiaki Nishioka, Giacobbe Fragomeni, and Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.

Cardiff , with its rich history and traditions, will be the center of the boxing world for this historic gathering.
