New Delhi: Remembered more for losing part of his right ear to a violent Mike Tyson in that infamous 1997 fight, boxer-turned-peacenik Evander Holyfield said he has forgiven his former ring rival.

Here to promote Global Peace Rally, a brainchild of Dr K A Pal, Holyfield sounded philosophic about life and though he traded violent punches inside the ring, the boxer took a larger view of life.

''I'm a fighter but I love peace. I still respect Tyson as a boxer and I have forgiven him for the incident,'' Holyfield told reporters.

During the fight at the MGM Grand Garden, Las Vegas Holyfield retained his World Boxing Association heavyweight championship by disqualification over Tyson at the end of the third round.

Tyson bit Holyfield twice in the third round, the first time on the right ear and then on the left ear before being disaqualified.

Taking a larger view of life, the four-time world heavyweight boxing champion said,''Life itself is a fight. You win or lose in fights. But the main fight in life is for peace and I'm here to fight for peace.'' The boxer also announced that he would take part in the Global Peace Rally here on October 2, coinciding it with Mahatma Gandhi's birthday.
