Lightweight World Champion Jesus Chavez will be the guest of honor this Friday as Dominic Pesoli's 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING and Oscar De Le Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions along with Miller Lite and TCF Bank present PRIDE AND GLORY, a terrific evening of professional boxing as part of the internationally televised Solo Boxeo de Miller Friday Night Series broadcast on Telefutura/Univision.

"EL MATADOR" won the IBF lightweight title on September 17, 2005 with an 11th round stoppage of Leavander Johnson in Las Vegas, NV. He is scheduled to defend his title against current junior lightweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera on March 25, 2006. Chavez also won the WBC junior lightweight title beating Sirimongkol Singwangcha on August 15, 2003 in Austin, TX.

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, "This is a great opportunity for Chicago fight fans to honor Jesus who had a terrific amateur career here and is very well thought of by many of us who have followed his outstanding pro career. His wholecareer has exemplified the warrior spirit and it should be a great welcome home for Jesus and something that 8 Count is proud to be part of."

PRIDE AND GLORY, an outstanding evening of professional boxing will take placeon Friday, November 11th at the Aragon Ballroom, 1106. W. Lawrence, one half block east of Broadway on the North Side of Chicago. Tickets, starting at $25 are on sale now by calling 312-226-5800. Doors will open on fight night at 6pm with the first bell scheduled for 7pm.

The main event of the evening is a ten round junior welterweight battle between Juan "The Hispanic Causing Panic" Lazcano, 34-3-1 (26KO's) of El Paso, TX and Courtney Burton, 21-4 (11KO's) of Grand Rapids, MI. Lazcano currently ranked #6 by the WBC and #10 by the WBA is coming off a first round knockout of Marco Angel Perez on August 19th in El Paso. His previous fight was a very close decision loss to former world champion Jose Luis Castillo on June 5, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. His twelve year career included wins over world champions Jesse James Lieja, John-John Molina, Stevie Johnston and Wilfredo Vazquez.

Burton's nine year career included wins over world champions and contenders including Angel Manfredy, Francisco Lorenzo and Emanuel Augustus. On December 17th, 2004, Courtney fought Ebo Elder on ShoBox, a twelve round brutal battle that was called the "Fight of the Year" by many boxing experts for its wild swings of momentum by both fighters.
