Jeremy "Half Man Half Amazing" Williams defects from Boxing to MMA
By Mark Pickering (June 30, 2006)
Jeremy "Half Man Half Amazing" Williams has revealed a remarkable ambition
to step out of a two-year retirement and return to competition; in a cage.

The 33-year old will attempt to become the first crossover star as he enters the unforgiving domain known as Mixed Martial Arts.

For the uninitiated MMA combines Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and traditional boxing to form a definitive combat sport, with bouts contested in an octagonal cage over a series of rounds.

While we’re accustomed to MMA combatants defecting to the sweet science and achieving moderate success, a boxer pursuing Mixed Martial Arts is a relatively uncommon transpiration; underlining the adverse reality of such an ambition

Fuelled by disillusion with the state of modern boxing and a burning desire to step-to-toe with the sports finest fighters,
Williams becomes one of the most decorated boxers to attempt the ambitious transition.

Williams told MaxFighting.com : “I’m about the only boxer with any level of experience to crossover. I should be considered a threat at this point because I’ve taken it very seriously.”

The former WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champion is all-too aware of
the necessity for fighters to be versed in all elements of MMA having enlisted the assistance of Eddie “The Twister” Bravo, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist, to develop his ground game skills.

Williams added : “You have to be a well rounded athlete you have to know how to wrestle, box, submit, kick, and most importantly you have to know how to stay on your feet. I think that is what I am going to bring to this sport.”
