Mike Tyson returns and Unruly Fans Boo Him
By DHB (Oct 21, 2006)
Mike Tyson's return to boxing was far from spectacular. Tyson opened his "World Tour" on Friday night with a lackluster performance in a four-round exhibition against Corey "T-Rex" Sanders. Sanders showed up outweighing Tyson by 50 pounds.

During the fight Tyson who wore a t-shirt was gasping for air during each of the 2½-minute rounds. Tyson floored Sanders in the first round and then had to hold up Sanders moments later after staggering him with punches. The crowd on hand, 4,000 fans in the 6,000-seat Chevrolet Centre were happy and cheering Tyson during his
ring walk, but they became hostile, booing Tyson's performance shortly after the fight started.

Tyson said after the fight: "It was fun, that's my first time boxing since my last fight. I didn't know how tough it would be."

Promoter Sterling McPherson, gave a classy and honest response to the booing reaction he heard from the fans. McPherson simply stated: "I don't know what people were looking for. We weren't trying to fool anyone or pull the wool over anyone's eyes. This was an exhibition. People boo at real fights... This isn't about him beating anybody up."
