Oscar De La Hoya speaks on Lawsuit; "We're not morons"
By DHB (Nov 13, 2006)
If you ask Oscar De La Hoya if he is worried about getting sued by Promoter Gary Shaw, De La Hoya will tell you he is not worried. Shaw has threatened to sue former lightweight champion Diego Corrales, because last month the boxer signed as a free agent with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. Shaw is alleging breach of contract.

According to a report by Kevin Iole of the Las Vegas Review Journal, Shaw said he still has another fight on his contract
with Corrales. The report alsp indicates that Shaw will sue Golden Boy for tortuous interference in a contract if it attempts to promote a Corrales fight.

De La Hoya quoted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal said he is unconcerned.

De La Hoya tells the publication: "If we did sign him (Corrales) while he was under contract, we deserve to be sued. But we kept asking to see a document and they haven't produced anything."

De La Hoya added: "We're not morons. We do our due diligence. We've kept asking to see this contract, but we still haven't see it."
