Ian Napa prepared to cut out the Jerk Chicken

British bantamweight champion Ian Napa is set to create history by becoming the first fighter to hold the British bantamweight and super-flyweight titles.

In Nottingham last Friday Napa won the Lonsdale belt outright when he successfully made his third title defence in eight months by beating Belfast’s Colin Moffett in a unanimous point’s decision.

Napa, who beat Jason Booth to claim the vacant belt last July, is clearly relishing his busier schedule and looks noticeably stronger since his recent string of back to back fights.

And the champion has no doubt that he is the man to rewrite boxing’s record books.

“I would love to do super-fly as I could get onto the world stage quite quick,” Napa said.

“I don’t see anyone special in that division and I have already outfought the fighters that are the best in that division.

“Andy Bell is the new champion and I know that I could beat him.

“Fitness is not just something you get,” he continued.

“I would have to be disciplined in training, but I have already been running twice since my last win and I know that technically I am the best fighter.

“I would love to hold titles at two different weights and I really think I have more chance of winning a world title in the super-flyweight division,” said Napa, who has in the past successfully fought at flyweight.

“I know I have the skills and the power to be the first fighter to hold British titles at bantamweight and super-flyweight and I will benefit as I will be moving down from the weight I have been fighting at.

“The Mexicans at bantamweight will be big as they are really featherweights coming down. But at super-fly I believe I have the speed and skill to out-box anyone in the world.

“I am even prepared to cut out the jerk chicken and drink more water!"
