Teixeira Stops Mouton; Ochoa Halts Rodriguez

Brazilian middleweight Patrick Teixeira 26-0, (22KOs) showed plenty of skills, effective use of reach and generalship, and the ability to survive some rocky moments as he stopped the game Don Mouton 13-10-1, (11KOs) in the Extrella TV / Golden Boy Promotions main event on Friday night at the Belasco Theater in downtown L.A.

Teixeira, a tall, busy punching southpaw worked Mouton's body early, mixing up punches in bunches, which had the incoming Mouton bruised up with a swollen eye by fight's end.

Mouton, did not go quietly though, as he gave Teixeira a big scare in the sixth round, as Mouton caught him with a huge left. That punch had him in deep trouble. The Brazilian fighter, showed he could survive by holding, moving and eventually gathering his senses back, going on to regain control of the fight once more. A stoppage came by the referee in the seventh frame, as Teixeira trapped Mouton in a corner, firing away at will, with nothing in return.

Time of the stoppage was 1:31 of the round.

In the co-featured bout, Brooklyn's own Zachary Ochoa 13-0, (6KOs) defeated Alejandro “Soma” Rodriguez 24-19-1, (14KOs) in three heats of a scheduled eight round Super Lightweight contest. Ochoa, with sneaky speed sent Rodriguez down in the second, again at the onset of the third and a follow up series of shots ended it moments later in the same round.

In other results, Tijuana, Mexico’s Antonio Gutierrez 19-1-1, (8KOs) defeated San Diego's Victor Fonseca 9-6-1, (7KOs) via unanimous (60-54 and 59-55 (twice) decision at the end of six rounds of a featherweight bout.

Lightweight Francisco Ochoa 3-0, (2KOs) stopped Isaac Avalos (0-1) with a body shot at 2:49 of the first round.

Super bantamweight Pablo Rubio Jr. 3-0, (2KOs) won a majority decision vs.Adrian Rodriguez (1-8-1) in a scheduled four rounder Scores were 40-36, 39-37, and 38-38.

San Antonio’s Super Flyweight Joshua Franco 2-0, (1KO) halted Saul Hernandez 5-7-1, (3KOs) in three.

In the first bout of the evening, Super lightweight Abraham Lopez 2-1, (1KO) dropped Galveston, Texas Andrew Gomez (0-3) in the second round en route to winning a stoppage in the same frame. Time of the stoppage was :28 seconds into the round, as Lopez was in no shape to continue after absorbing a big left hook which put him down.
