Will Ajose Olusegun get snubbed again?

On
July 14, Amir Khan will face Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia of Philadelphia
for the WBC light welterweight title in Las Vegas. Garcia replaced
Lamont Peterson who tested positive for synthetic testosterone that
he and his team claim he was prescribed before Khan and Peterson
fought in December, 2011. The winner of the Khan-Garcia fight will
possibly face Lucas Matthyse in Los Angeles, who knocked out Humberto
Soto at the end of round 5 in Los Angeles this past Saturday in
stunning fashion.
While
fans salivate at the possibility of a match between Khan and
Matthyse, #1 ranked Ajose Olusegun continues to wait for a title
fight he has been the mandatory challenger for years now. Olusegun
and his manager have been sitting on their hands since Erik Morales
was given the WBC strap for his victory over Mexico’s Pablo Cesar
Cano in September of 2011, on the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz
undercard.
While
Olusegun and his promoter had little choice but to step aside for the
Amir Khan-Danny Garcia fight for the vacant WBC title, it is unclear
whether or not the WBC will grant The Nigerian native the
championship match he’s been waiting for for far too long. Olusegun
has been inactive for ten months now since his very exciting victory
over hard punching Canadian Ali Chebah and at age 32, Ajose ‘Smokin’
Joe” Olusegun cannot afford to wait much longer. The WBC must
acknowledge Olusegun before the end of 2012 or face further scrutiny
from hardcore boxing fans.
