Yesterday at a teleconference to help hype Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 5th, Mayweather Jr told the press that in a shorter amount of time he has out done De La Hoya as far as championship belts are concerned. While hyping his trainer and Uncle, Roger Mayweather, Mayweather Jr took a shot at De La Hoya's career, saying he had done his homework on De La Hoya, that De La Hoya is only a three time world champion and not a four time champ such as himself.

At the conference Mayweather Jr said in regards to his trainer: "I mean just the Mayweather in the sport of boxing has been great. And my uncle Roger Mayweather has been a hell of a trainer for many, many years. And he doesn’t get the props that he really, really deserves. I mean a guy who’s been working with me since the age of 18, 19, and gotten me to"

Mayweather continued, and gave his reasons why his belts mean more: "I’m not even going to say five time world champion, we don’t even count the belt that I won against that (ph), we just say the four time world champion, because the WBC is the official belt, I’ve done my homework on Oscar and he’s talking 10 time world champion, no, Oscar De La Hoya is three time world champion, if you want to go about the official belt, and the guy has been in the sport a lot longer than I’ve been in the sport of boxing. So he’s three time world champion. I’m four time world champion."
