Lovemore Ndou is set to defend his IBF Junior welterweight title against the nephew of Bernard Hopkins, Demetrius Hopkins. The fight is scheduled for June. In a recent interview conducted by David Lewis and published in The Daily Telegraph, Ndou dissed Hopkins for being a protected fighter. Ndou plans on beating up Hopkins and then using him as a stepping stone to get Ricky Hatton.
In regards to Hopkins, Ndou said: "He's a protected species who hasn't fought anybody with my power, mobility and
endurance and I'll beat him up."
Ndou added: "He's a part of the Golden Boy stable and his uncle has made sure he hasn't been exposed to anybody dangerous ... until now." Adding: "Hopkins has been lulled into a false sense of security by the opponents who have been spoon fed to him.
Ndou's motivation to defeat Hopkins is the craving he has to face Hatton. "Now he'll have no place to hide. I'm the champion and this is just another step for me on the road to Ricky Hatton."
