(24-0, 23 KOs) – The Russian-born boxer first gained notoriety when he
won the Gold Medal at super heavyweight at the 2004 Summer Olympics in
Athens, Greece. In 2011, Povetkin outpointed Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Chagaev
to win the WBA Heavyweight Championship. He has since defended his
title twice, with his last fight in a decision in 2012 against WBO
Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck.
Rahman
(50–7– 2 draws – 1 no contest, 41 KOs) – From Baltimore, MD, the former
champ returns to the ring after a year layoff from his TKO victory of
Galen Brown in Mississippi. But it was in 2001 that Rahman shocked the
boxing world when the 20-1 underdog knocked out Lennox Lewis in the 5
th round to take Lewis’ WBC, IBF & IBO crown. Lewis would come back 7 months later to KO Rahman in the 4
th round.
