Los Angeles, CA. On Thursday night, Fireworks were on display in the main event event of the GBP promoted fight card at the Belasco Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. The undefeated one time world title challenger, Puerto Rico's own Jayson Velez, 23-0-1 (16Kos) looked very well, sharp and focused in defeating a very game and capable Daniel ''Huracan'' Ramirez, 11-3 (5Kos) in ten contested rounds.

Velez caught Ramirez in the second round with a series of head shots, the last a right hand sent Ramirez to the ground. The Mexican fighter got up and continued to fight, with Velez landing the sharper, harder shots (particularly body shots), with Ramirez returning fire and catching Velez sporadically upstairs to keep things interesting throughout the fight.

Ramirez fought the second half of the fight, with his mouth open and slowing down as the rounds went on.

Scores were 99-90 (twice) and 98-91 all for Velez.

Morales Defeats Gonzalez in Eight.

The co-featured bout featured Super featherweight Carlos Morales 9-1-3 (3Kos) hand Emmanuel Gonzalez 14-2 (7Kos) his second lose in a 77-75, 78-74 and 80-72 (eight round bout).

Both men traded at an even pace, and despite the lopsided scorecards, Gonzalez made a very good account of himself with the fight much closer than the rendered verdict.

Gonzalez Goes the Distance against Hayes

In the first fight of the Fox Sports / Fox Deportes televised portion of the card, popular Christian Gonzalez 10-0, (9Kos) went the distance for the first time in his career against a wily and survival mode Darryl Hayes 3-5 (1Ko) in a six round lightweight bout.

Hayes was deducted a point for holding and spinning Gonzalez around constantly in the second frame and once more for holding and pushing the Mexican's head down in the sixth and final round.

Scores were 60-52 (twice) and 59-53 all for Gonzalez.

In other results:

On the first bout of the evening, super bantam weight Pablo Rubio dropped Julio Ynami once in the first round, went on to get bloodied up and battered with the referee Sharon Sams stopping the beating.

Rubio won his pro debut via stoppage.

In the walk-out bout of the evening, Rafael Gramajo 4-1(2Kos) defeated the very experienced and tough Pablo Cupil 4-17 (3Kos) in an all out war.

At the end of four completed rounds, Gramajo walked away with a unanimous 40-36 score on all three judges' card, to secure a decision victory in the super bantamweight bout.
