To the delight of fans, a free show to all who came courtesy by Tecate who gave away 1500 tickets at the door. The best part, show would have still been well worth it if it had been paid admission, as it turned out to be an excellent card, with competitive bouts most of the time and sustained action with several stoppages along the way.

Jessie Vargas, 23-0, (9KOs) a super lightweight remained undefeated, as he battled Ray Narh 26-4 (21KOs) in a grueling fight on the inside, rough at times, and holding (while still punching, and wrestling). Referee Jay Nady warned both fighter regarding the issue in spots.

The fight saw its best action at mid-point, where both fighters landed jarring head and body shots, with Narh seemingly taking the lead by a couple of rounds past the half-way distance in the bout.

Vargas dropped his punch-out considerably, backing up and not doing much of anything as Narh remained on the attack all night.

The fight seemed to be for the taking entering the final round, as Vargas came back in the ninth to even up matters.

Getting back to once more back-pedaling and Narh doing most of the fighting in the round.

With seconds left on the fight, Vargas would land a vicious shot on a turn, which caught Narh squared up sending his down to the canvas.

Most observers agreed that Vargas had pulled out the fight on the strength of the knockdown, although the three judges at ringside somehow saw a different fight, as they scored it for Vargas, 98-91 (twice) and 97-92.

Magdaleno Stops Hidalgo in Three

In the co-featured bout, super bantamweight southpaw Jessie Magdaleno 17-0, (12KOs) another hometown product was a virtual wind-mill in landing hard shots from all angles unto Raul Hidalgo, 19-10 (14KOs) a capable looking fighter, who had no answers to the magnificent punching machine put in front of him.

The fight was mercifully stopped by the referee in the third round of a scheduled six-rounder.

In other results, Super Lightweight Jose Zepeda 16-0 (14KOs) sent a usually very tough and rugged Luis Arceo down to the canvas multiple times through three rounds of a scheduled six round bout.

Arceo, known for cutting easily had a small knick alongside his right eye by the end of the first frame.

Zepeda, hailing from La Puente, California and trained by Robert Alcazar was sharp, landing shots which put Arceo down three more times in the next two-rounds, by the time Arceo once more got up, the fighter was a bloody mess, suffering a bad cut by his nose. Well behind on the scorecards, the referee stopped the fight as Arce is the type of guy who tends to be much to tough for his own good. Times of the stoppage was 2:04.
