Philadelphia southpaw Tevin Farmer,
6-3-1, added the IBS lightweight belt to his light welterweight IBS
belt defeating Rasool Shakoor, 3-11-1 (1), of Jackson, MI, winning
every round in an 8 round co-main event. The show was held at the
Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, GA, Saturday night. All judges
had it 80-72 for Farmer. Shakoor has had only one opponent with a
losing record in his 15 fights.
“Tevin had him hurt him in the 1st and then in the 3rd but the bell saved by the bell, In the
6th he had him hurt again. In the last round Tevin ran
around the ring showboating to the crowd. Shakoors right eye was shut
with 16 shades of purple and said Tevin can really hit”, said Jane
Scholls. (Farmer’s manager) Farmer’s losses (all unbeaten
opponents) and a draw were when he had to make 130 and under to get
fights. He’s won his last 3 fights and is trained by Chuckie Mills
at the MLK Gym in Philly.
On the undercard was Tim Witherspoon,
Jr., 8-2-1 (2), of Philadelphia, who lost to Farmer in January for
the IBS light welterweight title in Philadelphia. Witherspoon won a
4 round decision over John Willoughby, 3-15 (2) of Atlanta, GA.
In the main event WBC female
lightweight champion Melissa “Huracan” Hernandez, 17-3-3 (6), of
Miami Beach, FL, defeated Nicole Woods, 11-10-2 (3), of Stone
Mountain, GA., over 10 rounds in a non-title bout.
