By Ken Hissner, Doghouse Boxing. - York’s unbeaten lightweight Carney “Beeper” Bowman, 16-0 (7), makes his return to the ring Friday night at the Valencia Ballroom in York, PA.  His last bout was December of 2010 winning a majority decision over Jason Rorie over 6 rounds in the main event.  Julio Alvarez is the promoter and Chuck Bayley the matchmaker.

Bowman was a 3-time PA Golden Glove champion starting in 2000 at 119 and 2002-3 at 125.  In 2003 he won the National’s and turned professional the following year on the under card of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. winning an eliminator bout against DeMarcus Corley, a future world champion.  This took place in Atlantic City, NJ.

Bowman’s first 10 fights were away from home in NJ, NV, OH, MS, IL, NY, PA and 3 in MD.   It wasn’t until July of 2008 his then management team scheduled him in York at the Valencia.  He had 3 bouts there and 2 at the Sovereign Bank Baseball Park.  His last bout was at the nearby Hanover Armory.  He has always been a well respected boxer with the Philadelphia boxers.  This will only be his fourth opponent with a winning record he has faced when he meets Ramesis Gil, 7-4-5 (5), of Santo Domingo, DR.  Gil was 7-0-4 in PR and his last 6 opponents, all unbeaten, compiled a record of 75-0-2.  He defeated Luis Joel Gonzalez, 9-1-1 and drew with well respected prospect Jamie Havanagh, 8-0.  One common opponent is Roberto Acevedo whom Bowman stopped in 3 rounds while Gil won a 6 round decision over.  Bowman and Gil will be the main event over 6 rounds.

Light welterweight Jesus Saucedo, 3-0-1(1) of York will meet Mexican Luis Antonio Lopez, 2-11-1 (1), now out of Union City, NJ, over 6 rounds.  Lopez’s opponents are 23-5-7 overall of which 10 of the 14 were unbeaten at the time.  In October of 2008 Lopez lost to then unbeaten Jose Guzman in York.

Super bantamweight Josh Bowles, 4-0 (0), of Harrisburg, PA, who was a PA Golden Gloves champ in 2009 at 125, will meet Joshua Arocho, 1-5-2 (1), of Vineland, NJ, over 4 rounds.  Arocho is coming off a draw with Robert Semidei, 3-0.  Lancaster, PA, light welterweight Rolando Chinea, 3-0 (2), will meet Nicaragua’s Carlos Macias, 4-1 (1), now out of Queens, NY, over rounds.  Making her pro debut will be nearby Red Lion’s Brittany Inkrote, 0-0, against Philadelphia’s Tina Leadbeater, 2-4, at super bantam.

Saturday night at the Gameface Sports Complex, in Temple, PA, will mark the return of Reading’s heavyweight Travis Kauffman, 22-1 (17), against southpaw Charles Davis, 19-22-3 (4), of Tucson, AZ, in the 8 round main event.  Davis is a former WBC Latino and Continental Americas champion who has drawn with Bermane Stiverne, 17-1 and Monte Barrett 34-9-1.  Kaufman hasn’t fought in a year after suffering several injuries.   This is a King’s Promotion.

Reading’s southpaw Frank Santos DeAlba, 3-1-2 (1), will meet Philadelphia’s Paul Fernandez 5-5-2 (3), in a super featherweight 6 rounder.  Allentown’s Will Miranda, 5-5-1 (0), will meet Phillip Triantafillo, 2-1 (1), of Chesterton, IN, in a heavyweight 4.  Lebanon’s Edison Rodriguez, 5-2-1 (1), will meet Cassius Clay, 0-5, of Las Vegas, NV, in a lightweight 4.  Reading’s Jeremy Stauffer, 6-2-1 (6), will return to the ring after a 5 year lay-off and face Daniel Shull, 3-16-1, of Winchester, VA, in a cruiserweight 4.  Lightweight Samuel Omar Quinones, Jr., will make his debut against Philadelphia’s Ramon Ellis, 2-7-2 (1), who fought to a draw with DeAlba in February of 2012.
