York’s unbeaten lightweight Carney “Beeper” Bowman, 16-0 (7), makes
his return to the ring Friday night at the Valencia Ballroom in York,
PA. His last bout was December of 2010 winning a majority decision over
Jason Rorie over 6 rounds in the main event. Julio Alvarez is the
promoter and Chuck Bayley the matchmaker.
Bowman was a 3-time PA
Golden Glove champion starting in 2000 at 119 and 2002-3 at 125. In
2003 he won the National’s and turned professional the following year on
the under card of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. winning an eliminator bout
against DeMarcus Corley, a future world champion. This took place in
Atlantic City, NJ.
Bowman’s first 10 fights were away from home
in NJ, NV, OH, MS, IL, NY, PA and 3 in MD. It wasn’t until July of
2008 his then management team scheduled him in York at the Valencia. He
had 3 bouts there and 2 at the Sovereign Bank Baseball Park. His last
bout was at the nearby Hanover Armory. He has always been a well
respected boxer with the Philadelphia boxers. This will only be his
fourth opponent with a winning record he has faced when he meets Ramesis
Gil, 7-4-5 (5), of Santo Domingo, DR. Gil was 7-0-4 in PR and his last
6 opponents, all unbeaten, compiled a record of 75-0-2. He defeated
Luis Joel Gonzalez, 9-1-1 and drew with well respected prospect Jamie
Havanagh, 8-0. One common opponent is Roberto Acevedo whom Bowman
stopped in 3 rounds while Gil won a 6 round decision over. Bowman and
Gil will be the main event over 6 rounds.
Light welterweight
Jesus Saucedo, 3-0-1(1) of York will meet Mexican Luis Antonio Lopez,
2-11-1 (1), now out of Union City, NJ, over 6 rounds. Lopez’s opponents
are 23-5-7 overall of which 10 of the 14 were unbeaten at the time. In
October of 2008 Lopez lost to then unbeaten Jose Guzman in York.
Super
bantamweight Josh Bowles, 4-0 (0), of Harrisburg, PA, who was a PA
Golden Gloves champ in 2009 at 125, will meet Joshua Arocho, 1-5-2 (1),
of Vineland, NJ, over 4 rounds. Arocho is coming off a draw with Robert
Semidei, 3-0. Lancaster, PA, light welterweight Rolando Chinea, 3-0
(2), will meet Nicaragua’s Carlos Macias, 4-1 (1), now out of Queens,
NY, over rounds. Making her pro debut will be nearby Red Lion’s
Brittany Inkrote, 0-0, against Philadelphia’s Tina Leadbeater, 2-4, at
super bantam.
Saturday night at the Gameface Sports Complex, in
Temple, PA, will mark the return of Reading’s heavyweight Travis
Kauffman, 22-1 (17), against southpaw Charles Davis, 19-22-3 (4), of
Tucson, AZ, in the 8 round main event. Davis is a former WBC Latino and
Continental Americas champion who has drawn with Bermane Stiverne, 17-1
and Monte Barrett 34-9-1. Kaufman hasn’t fought in a year after
suffering several injuries. This is a King’s Promotion.
Reading’s
southpaw Frank Santos DeAlba, 3-1-2 (1), will meet Philadelphia’s Paul
Fernandez 5-5-2 (3), in a super featherweight 6 rounder. Allentown’s
Will Miranda, 5-5-1 (0), will meet Phillip Triantafillo, 2-1 (1), of
Chesterton, IN, in a heavyweight 4. Lebanon’s Edison Rodriguez, 5-2-1
(1), will meet Cassius Clay, 0-5, of Las Vegas, NV, in a lightweight
4. Reading’s Jeremy Stauffer, 6-2-1 (6), will return to the ring after a
5 year lay-off and face Daniel Shull, 3-16-1, of Winchester, VA, in a
cruiserweight 4. Lightweight Samuel Omar Quinones, Jr., will make his
debut against Philadelphia’s Ramon Ellis, 2-7-2 (1), who fought to a
draw with DeAlba in February of 2012.
