Andre Kut’s KEA Boxing Promotions
will feature Juan “The Beast” Rodriguez, Jr., 9-0 (4), of Union
City, NJ, at Mt. Airy Casino & Resort in Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania
in the main event in a rematch with dangerous Dontre King, 6-11-2
(2), of Cambridge, MD, in a 6 round light welterweight match. Diana
Rodriguez will serve as matchmaker.
In February of 2010 Rodriguez took a 4
round decision over King. Later that year King drew with Juan
Rodriguez, then 4-0. Not the same Rodriguez. King has certainly
been in with the tougher opposition which is typical in boxing when
you have a losing record. King has a 4-3 record in his last 7
fights. The overall record of his opponents is 43-8-2 plus 3 making
their debut. Of these opponents 10 were unbeaten at the time. He
defeated Julio Dejesus, 5-2-1, last November in Atlantic City, NJ.
While opponents of Rodriguez overall are 14-32-5 with 1 making his
debut, and none with a winning record. Other words, throw out the
records. This should be a war!
The co-feature will be Tyrone Luckey,
4-2-1 (4), of Middletown, NJ, opposing late replacement Bryan Acaba,
3-0 (2), of Puerto Rico, now out of Brooklyn, NY. He is replacing
Philadelphia prospect Angel Ocasio, 6-0-2 (1), reported to have come
down with the flu. This is scheduled for 6 rounds in the lightweight
division.
Heavyweight prospect Joe Cusumano, 4-1
(4), out of Virginia Beach, VA, has been training in Phoenixville,
PA, for this bout against Taffo Asongwed, 3-11-7 (1), out of
Montreal, Quebec, CAN. Those 7 draws were all with unbeaten
opponents. In his last bout in June he scored a 4th round
stoppage. All of Cusumano’s bouts have been in different states.
He is under the guidance of the legendary Don Elbaum. The only loss
on Cusumano’s record was a disputed hometown decision. This is
scheduled for 4 rounds.
David “The Riot” Curiel, 3-0 (1),
out of Paterson, NJ, takes on Emmanuel Medina, 2-1 (2), out of
Qunicy, MA, in a 4 round light middleweight match. Robert Sockwell,
3-2-1 (3), of East Scranton, takes on Philadelphia’s Tyrell Boggs,
0-4, in a 4 round light middleweight match. In a 4 round female
super featherweight match Liz Sherman, 3-2 (1), battles Tina
Leadbetter, 2-4 (0), both out of Philadelphia. First bout at 7:30pm.
