Peterson Khan't Do (Why there is no fight with Amir Khan)
By Steve Kim, MaxBoxing (Jan 26, 2011) Special to Doghouse Boxing

I had a chance to talk to Barry Hunter, who in addition to training and managing jr. welterweight Lamont Peterson (along with his brother, Anthony), and we talked a bit about their decision to turn down the fight with Amir Khan on April 16th in Manchester, England on HBO. He explained that even after the deal offered to them went up to $200,000, it still wasn’t nearly enough.

Now, the question is, just where else will they get that kind of offer.

But Hunter explains that if Marcos Maidana got $550,000 to face Khan in Las Vegas (like he did on Dec. 11th) in front of rather sparse crowd inside the Mandalay Bay, why weren’t they entitled to some where in that same neighborhood to face Khan on his turf.

I have to say, I do see their point. Meanwhile, Khan is still looking for a dance partner willing to abide by their strict financial terms for that date.
