Erik Morales vs Marcos Maidana, Say it Ain't So

What was first reported by Michael Rosenthal at RingTV.com, is now basically a done deal according a good source, Erik Morales will now be facing Marcos Maidana at jr. welter after Juan Manuel Marquez decided to pass on the fight for whatever reason.

Two thoughts, first, isn’t this an even more dangerous fight for ’el Terrible’, who has never lacked guts. Marquez is still more or less a counter-puncher, while Maidana is a hard-hitting, natural 140-pounder.

Secondly, I have heard some rumblings that Marquez, who obviously has ’Pac Man’ fever, could be the next guy to go the Shane Mosley route- if you catch my drift.

- Schaefer told me over the weekend he is still attempting to make a lightweight bout between Michael Katsidis and Robert Guerrero for that card. Just my opinion, that’s the nights real main event.
