Manny Pacquiao Update from Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood

Because Manny Pacquiao wasn’t sparring yesterday, there was really no need for him to be on time, which he wasn’t. And because of that I spent around seven hours at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, working on, then waiting (and waiting, and waiting) and then finally getting to see ’the Pac Man’ work the mitts with Freddie Roach.

Folks, he was in great spirits and his energy level was off the charts. His blend of speed, power and technique is at it’s apex, right now. If Joshua Clottey is to beat him, it wont be the result of Pacquiao looking ahead or taking him lightly. But I can honestly say this, I’ve never seen a fighter with the energy and pace of this guy. It’s quite a sight to behold.

- I got off the phone with a source that says that Don King is making a run at IBF lt. heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud, and it might be putting the April 10th fight against Glen Johnson in jeopardy. Lets’ hope not, Cloud needs to fight, not keep switching promoters and the like. Also, that doubleheader, which also features Andre Berto-Carlos Quintana, is quite a nice looking show that HBO has. Let’s hope all this is just a rumor or simply goes away.
