Pavlik to Make June Return

I had a chance to speak to Top Rank Boxing Promoter Bob Arum, who told me
he liked what he saw from Kelly Pavlik this past weekend in San Antonio,
Texas, where he stopped Aaron Jaco in two rounds. The veteran promoter
says that Pavlik will fight again on June 8th (the night before
Manny Pacquiao - Tim Bradley) at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas and it could very
well be on ESPN2’s ’Friday Night Fights’
- Austin Trout confirmed to me that he has indeed inked a deal with
the influential Al Haymon. The plan is for him to face Sergiy Dzinziruk
on HBO in August but he definitely wants a fight before that, given that
he’s been out of the ring since November.
- EPIX announced that they will be broadcasting the super
middleweight bout between Lucian Bute and Carl Froch on May 26th.
Ironic, given that Showtime- which invested over $26 million into ’the
Super Six’- has a doubleheader featuring Peter Quillin-Winky Wright and
Lateef Kayode-Antonio Tarver that same day.
Yeah, that’s a bit of boxing bizarro world.
