Floyd Mayweather vs Shane Mosley Boxing Card Update

Golden Boy Promotions has officially announced the pay-per-view undercard for the May 1st show featuring Floyd Mayweather’s showdown against Shane Mosley. Highly regarded welterweight prospect Saul Alvarez will face Jose Miguel Cotto, featherweight Daniel Ponce de Leon faces the tricky Cornelius Lock and Hector David Saldivia faces Said Ouali in a welterweight bout.

My reaction?

Ehhh.

It’s not as bad as some of the pay-per-view undercards we’ve been forced to endure recently, but it’s not exactly ’Revenge the Rematches’ either. Bottom line is very simple, 99-percent of all pay-per-view purchases are predicated on the main event. And in this case, with a main event of Mayweather-Mosley, you didn’t need Simon Brown-Mo Blocker supporting it.

But ya know, it really wasn’t that long ago we had thrillers like Martin Castillo’s thrilling rematch with Alexander Munoz taking place before Pacquiao-Morales II. Those were the days.

- Danny Green stopped Manny Siaca in three rounds in Australia. Now, here’s the question, will Siaca accuse Green of having loaded wraps like Roy Jones did?

- ’the Fight Night Club’ at Club Nokia returns next Thursday and is headlined by Enrique Ornelas.

- This weeks edition of ’the Main Event’ had Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotion, who discussed a wide range of issues from the re-launch of ’Solo Boxeo’ on Telefutura, their relationship with Bernard Hopkins and the possibility of David Haye facing a Klitschko in 2010, among other issues. And Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, who has an interesting take on the Nevada State Athletic Commission...
