Boxing Notes on Freddie Roach, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Mike Jones and Antwone Smith
By Steve Kim, MaxBoxing (June 2, 2010) Special to Doghouse Boxing
Renowned trainer Freddie Roach told me on Saturday that he would have no problems re-uniting with talented bantamweight prospect Guillermo Rigondeaux, but with the caveat that he sign with a major promoter. Well, in the process of talking to some people for an upcoming story on Cuban boxers, I was told that they had indeed come to a verbal agreement with Top Rank, which shoud satisfy Roach.
There’s no doubting this guys natural talent, he was one of the greatest amateurs ever. But he is badly in need of some focus and direction in his career.
- The July 19th edition of ShoBox from Atlantic City, New Jersey will be a doubleheader featuring welterweights, Mike Jones and Antwone Smith. I think that down the line this two will be on a collision course.....
