On Thursday, this press release
was sent out: LAS VEGAS, NEV. – Today, Federal Magistrate Judge Robert Johnston denied
an Emergency Motion filed by Floyd Mayweather Jr. and ordered Mayweather to
give sworn testimony under oath, beginning tomorrow, June 17.
Mayweather is being sued by pound-for-pound champion and Congressman Manny Pacquiao, based on Mayweather's defamatory
statements accusing Pacquiao of taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Folks, if you think that
just because Mayweather is facing a left-handed fighter in Victor Ortiz is some
sort of precursor for a showdown between he and Manny Pacquiao, I think there a
lot of hurdles to be cleared to make this bout a reality- and this is certainly
one of them.
Until this is resolved, one way or another, I don't think
Pacquiao-Mayweather takes place. And then you have the personal feelings that
exist between Mayweather, Al Haymon and Arum to sort out.
