Heavy-handed welterweight
Ronald Cruz, Bethlehem, PA, takes another step forward on February 25th facing Allen Conyers. While Conyers is no world-beater, he has been in with
some big names. Expect Cruz to stay active and make major strides in 2012.
Don’t be surprised if we se him on the NBC Sports Network sometime in 2012.
Vernon Paris is expected to
follow-up his knockout of Tim Coleman by taking on former champion Zab Judah on
Showtime in February. The bout has yet to be finalized but the chances are
high.
2008 US Olympian Demetrius
Andrade is set to face Philly’s Derek Ennis in an IBF light middleweight title
eliminator on February 10th. Are you kidding me? Derek Ennis has one
win against a journeyman on the chitlin’ circuit since being knocked out in two
against Giorbis Barthelemy. And Andrade has been far from impressive in his
young career, coming off a track meet with a few jabs against Grady Brewer. We
will likely see Andrade running and jabbing all night to a decision victory in
front of an unhappy, booing crowd.
