Daniel Miltz, Editor @ Miltz Boxing News. NEW YORK -- It was Friday night fights at midtown Manhattan's Roseland Ball Room as Pawel "Raging Bull" Wolak gave everything he had against a tough Delvin "The Jaguar" Rodriguez and his devastating right hand.

Rodriguez, 31-year-old veteran former USBA welterweight title holder (2006-07, 2008-09) had mislaid three of his sole remaining six bouts.

Rodriguez landed a lot of right hands Friday night, enough, in fact, to make Pawel Wolak's face look like something out of a horror movie by the eighth round of their 10-round junior middleweight bout.

Rodriguez landed the firmer, more steady punches in rounds one to three, but Wolak’s bulldozing and solid offense began to pay off at the halfway point of the bout as he man-handled the more accurate puncher within while hounding him to the ropes.

Both fighters prodded deeply down the sweep. Rodriguez let his fists fly more and exploited horizontal undertakings and slants in close to get off with two- and three-punch combinations. Wolak stepped up his force literally blasting Rodriguez against the ropes every occasion he got.

Wolak who is now a Mount Arlington, New Jersey resident averaged a little over 100 punches per round was quite striking in this battle, given that his right eye was bloated completely shut.

"By the 4th round Wolak developed a massive, disfiguring hematoma on his right temple that, by the end of the fight, would completely close his right eye. For Rodriguez, who was fighting as a junior middleweight for the first time in his professional career, it was his first bout since July of 2010 and he entered with a record of 2-3-1 in his previous six fights dating back to November of 2008." As theatrical as the fight went on, with round nine being a Round of the Year candidate. Rodriguez tattered Wolak in that round, but all the more, with a severely damaged eye, Wolak came roaring back at Rodriguez.

Nevertheless, Rodriguez warrants recognition for shutting Wolak’s eye by controlling his perfected hooks and left uppercuts even as he was strapped rearward most of the times by the genuinely capacious gent.

But after ten ruthless rounds, a one and only solitary judge scored the fight in favor of the native born Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican, 31 year old Delvin Rodriguez. The other remaining two judges, on the other hand, scored it a tie, making it a majority draw at the end.

The Polish born Wolak, "The Ring's" number eight-rated junior middleweight was riding an eight-bout win streak going into Friday night's fight.

“It was a tough fight,” said Wolak (29-1-1, 19 KOs). “I give it up to Delvin, he really tested me. My eye started closing and I really couldn’t see much. That’s why I tried to get inside and keep my head in his chest.”

“I had no doubt it was going to be a tough fight but I was ready for it,” said Rodriguez (25-5-2, 14 knockouts).
