Daniel Miltz, Miltz Boxing News. - Yuriorkis Gamboa defeated Daniel Ponce de Leon in an humdrum fight that you wouldn't want to write home about. It was unexciting and monotonous.

It won't do nothing for Gamboa's career--though unyielding, Gamboa 's ring slickness was palpable enough to keep your curiosity on the edge. The big-hearted judges were kind to Ponce de Leon, scoring it 68-65 for Gamboa. Though the princely ring doctor stopped the fight on a cut that wasn't severe enough, he seemed like he wasn't taking any chances.

In my say-so opinion, Gamboa fans, despite his win, won't be running to get tickets, and stand in line to his next fight. Ponce de Leon was outshoned in this match-up and perhaps, if I may articulate on an old cliché in boxing that states: "STYLES MAKE FIGHTS!!" Mark Twain once said: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."
