Edgar “El Chamaco” Santana, 29-4-(20), claimed the vacant NABA light welterweight title with stunning first round KO victory of Michael “Cold Blood” Clark, 44-9-1-(18), in the 10 round main event at the beautiful Rollins Center in the Dover Downs Casino on Friday.
Santana eventually took control of the brief encounter by battering Clark before decking him with big right hand. Referee Vic de Wysocki counted Clarke out after 2:27 of the opening round.
Clark was worryingly laid out for what seemed like forever but thankfully rose to his feet and was escorted to his corner.
On the undercard Omar “Super O” Douglas won the vacant NABA US super featherweight title with a third round stoppage win over Jean “Evangelista” Sotelo.
Douglas softened Sotelo with hooks to the body in the opening round before dropping him in the corner with a hard left to the head followed by a combination of body shots in the second.
Sotelo survived the knockdown but Douglas was relentless until Sotelo’s corner threw in the towel after 2:33 of the third round.
