Peter Manfredo Jr., 40-7-(21), turned back the clock at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island on Friday night when he stopped the game but outgunned Rich Gingras, 13-4-1 in the eighth round of the scheduled 10-round main event of Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports’ promoted card.
Though Manfredo finished off Gingras after 1.33 of the eighth round, Gingras was always game and gave Manfredo all the trouble he could handle and more.
Manfredo semi retired in March after defeating Walter Wright but returned Friday to honour his friend and fellow boxer Gary Balletto, who is paralyzed from the waist down following an accident at home in July. The win over Gingras was a perfect tribute to his friend.
