Yoan Pablo Hernandez successfully defended his IBF cruiserweight title with a 10th round KO victory over challenger Alexander Alekseev in Bamberg Germany. Hernandez was in control throughout the fight, dropping his opponent in rounds 2, 5 and in the 10th to prompt a stoppage from the referee.

Hernandez, who improved to 28-1, 14 KOs with the win, used his southpaw straight left to great effect and had Alekseev, now 24-3-1, 20 KOs, in all sorts of trouble at different stages of the contest.

In a big upset on the undercard, Alex Leapai of Australia scored a wide unanimous decision over WBO number 1 rated Heavyweight Denis Boystov. Lepai, who was ranked number by the WBO scored 2 knockdowns, one in the 7th and one in the 9th on route to a 98-90, 96-92, 96-92 unanimous decision victory.

Lepai whose ledger improves to 30-4-3, 24 KO’s, shocked Boystov, now 33-1, 26 KOs, skills and pressure and never let the Russian into the fight.

Dmitry Sukhotsky won an IBF eliminator at Light Heavyweight stopping Eduard Gutknecht in 4. Gutknecht sustained an injury to his left eye leaving it almost completely shut from swelling.
