Floyd Mayweather vs Amir Khan Set For May 5th?

SecondsOut.com - By Tom Gray: There are whispers that undefeated pound for pound star, Floyd Mayweather, will face off against Britain’s Amir Khan on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Khan’s team inexplicably withdrew their appeal into December’s close decision loss to Lamont Peterson and this could very well be the reason why.

This fight would be Khan’s debut at 147lbs and it is an audacious choice should the rumor be true. He will definitely start as a big underdog against the super gifted, Mayweather, who at 34, still looks electric.

The fight would also provide pre-fight fireworks with Freddie Roach in the opposing corner and the Pacquiao angle is hardly inconspicious.

Floyd was thought to be getting matched with unbeaten Mexican, Saul Alvarez, if the Pacquiao negotiations stalled.
