SecondsOut.com - WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko say David Haye was given
the opportunity to face him in September but turned him down in favour
of an all British showdown with bitter rival Dereck Chisora.
Vitali instead chose to face unbeaten boxer Manuel Charr in Moscow on
September 8. The bout will be broadcast on American cable network HBO.
Speaking at a press conference to publicize the Charr fight Klitschko
was quoted by Russian News Agency RIA Novosti as saying: “David Haye
was supposed to be at this press conference. He had a concrete offer to
fight in September and he refused.
“He turned down a fight with Vitali Klitschko in favor of one with Chisora”
Last Saturday Haye did what Vitali failed to do and that was to score
an impressive stoppage win over Chisora. Vitali was forced to go the
full 12 rounds and failed to drop the outgunned Londoner. .
