- on Doghouse Boxing. - By Dmytro Mossienko at ringside: Klitschko brothers K2 promotional house held held an entertaining fight card on Saturday night (21 July) in Odessa, Ukraine.

Ukrainian 33 years old light heavyweight Vyacheslav Uzelkov won majority decision in a WBO Inter-Continental clash against Swiss based Algerian Mohamed Belkacem. A late substitute, Belkacem fought tremendous fight.

A well-established kick-boxer Belkacem came as a complete surprise for Uzelkov, who later admitted that had never seen a single fight of his opponent. Belkacem showed no respect to Ukraine’s home boy, who received a major support in the heat of Black Sea resort of Odessa.

Uzelkov ate a lot of leather, as Belkacem was landing with ease leading rights, body shots, finishing many combos with painful uppercuts to the head.

Uzelkov was passive most of the time, moving forward with no jabs or punches until round five, when he for the first time landed his trade mark left hook and sent his opponent reeling. Uzelkov never managed to build up his advantage neither in this episode, nor a similar opportunity in round nine. He never looked hungry enough.

Uzelkov, who looked like he stepped into the ring with no game plan, never developed his advantage and though throwing some punches, continued to receive much too many unnecessary punishment from Belkacem. When the two boxers entered the 12th round, the general impression was that Vyacheslav was about to lose the fight in his own back yard. To Uzelkov’s credit, he spent the 12th round using all his remaining energy in attack. He never managed to stop his opponent.

Belkacem faded away in the 12th, looking naturally exhausted. The scores were 114:114, 115:113, 116:112

In an undercard fight K2 Ukraine’s Oleksandr Spyrko stopped after four lopsided rounds Czech boxer Michal Pechacek in a WBO European light middleweight title clash.
