SecondsOut.com on Doghouse Boxing. - Pablo Cesar Cano won the WBA interim super-featherweight title via a
seventh round technical decision over current champ Johan Perez the
Oasis Hotel in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico on Saturday.
An otherwise exciting fight was brought to a sudden halt when both
fighters were cut after a nasty clash of heads, prompting referee Luis
Pabon to stopped the fight and to the scorecards after seven rounds. The
scores were 68-65 twice for Cano and 67-67.
On the undercard lightweight Jorge Romero scored a fourth round tko
win over former world champ Rudy Lopez . Lopez was floored in rounds
three and four.
The upset of the night happened when Denver light welterweight
Manuel Perez won a 10 round split decision over Jose Cotto . The scores
were 96-94 twice for Perez and 96-95 for Cotto.
