Kermit Cintron Is Well Prepared For Saul Alvarez

SecondsOut.com - By Clive Bernath: Former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron may be the underdog when he challenges champion Saul Alvarez in Mexico City on Saturday night but the 32 year-old Puerto Rican believes he is the better and more experienced boxer of the two.

Cintron said training camp has gone well and he is fully prepared for the most important fight of his 33-4-1-(28), career.

“I’ve been training hard and I’ve had a good training camp,” Cintron said on a media conference call earlier this week. “Trained my butt off and I’m prepared for this fight.”

“I have a lot of experience, been through ups and downs. Alvarez hasn’t had that. I’ve always worked my way up and I’m coming here to take the title away from him.”

At just 21 years old and with an unbeaten record of 38-0-1, Alvarez has both youth and a touch of experience on his side. With the aforementioned in mind and the fact ‘Canelo’ is defending his title on home soil Cintron is under no illusions about the tough task ahead.

“He’s world champion for a reason,” Cintron said. “I think he’s a good fighter. He’s strong and has a lot of skills. But I feel that I’m a better fighter than he is. I’m strong as well, I can punch. It’s going to be an interesting fight. I came here well prepared for whatever he brings. November 26 is going to be a great night for Mexico and a great night for Puerto Rico.”
