Boxing results: Rios Defeats Murray, Rodriguez Tame Wolak And Jones Batters Lujan

SecondsOut.com - Brandon Rios, 29-0-1-(21), may have lost his WBA lightweight crown on the scales the previous night but he still defeated the brave British challenger John Murray via 11th round tko at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday.

Rios’ attacks busted up Murray’s face. Murray was deducted a point for a low blow in round seven. The bout ended after 2.06 of round 11 when referee Earl Brown waved it off with Murray taking too much punishment. Had Murray been victorious he would have won the title.

In a rematch of their barnstormer earlier this year, welterweight Delvin Rodriguez, 26-5-3-(14), scored a clear 10 round unanimous decision win over Pawel Wolak, 29-2-(19). Rodriguez battered Wolak in the last round to claim a 98-91, 98-91, 100-90 win.

In an IBF eliminator, unbeaten welterweight Mike Jones, 25-0-(18), scored a very one-sided 12 round unanimous decision win Sebastian Lujan, 38-6-2-(24). The scores were 118-110 and 119-109 twice.
