By SecondsOut.com on Doghouse Boxing. Boxing pound for pound top 10, Nonito ‘Filipino Flash’ Donaire will
defend his W.B.O. and I.B.F. super bantamweight title against Japanese
southpaw Toshiaki Nishioka in a double header at the Home Depot in
Carson, California on October 13.
In the co feature former world lightweight champ Brandon Rios takes
on the undefeated 32 year-old Mike ‘Mile High’ Alvarado over 10 rounds.
Rios, 30-0-1-(21), vs Avarado,33-0-(23), and Donaire,29-1-(18), vs
Nishioka,39-4-3-(24), will be promoted by Top Rank and broadcast LIVE on
HBO Boxing After Dark.
“History shows there is only one way for a fighter to make the leap
to stardom and that’s by accepting the challenges and risks like the
ones Donaire, Nishioka, Rios and Alvarado committed to on October 13.
They are young, hungry and ambitious,” said Todd duBoef, president of
Top Rank.
