Over a year since his valiant losing effort against Welshman Gavin Rees, when he pushed the former WBA light welterweight champion hard over 12 rounds in Cardiff for the vacant European title at 9st 9lbs, Cavan’s Andy Murray returned to action at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar, Ireland on Friday (August 17), forcing Argentine Sergio Priotti to retire at the start of round seven.

Murray improves to 25-1 (12) and the 32-year-old from Cordoba, Argentina falls to 25-12 (8).

Murray sparred Central Area lightweight champion and soon to be Prizefighter entrant Kieran Farrell in preparation for the contest under the watchful eye of veteran trainer John Breen and will be looking to get back into contention amongst the domestic lightweights.
