By or provided from SecondsOut.com on Doghouse Boxing. Teresa Tapia, the widow of former multi weight world champion Johnny Tapia, has revealed at a press conference that her husband died of heart disease.

It was first thought that the troubled boxing legend, who passed away on May 17, had died of a drug overdose but an autopsy report released on Wednesday revealed the cause of death to be heart disease.

It is believed, though, prescription drugs played a part in the cause of his death but has officially been ruled an accident due to heart disease complications. The autopsy also revealed that there were no illegal drugs in Tapia’s system .
