Dave Coldwell’s December 7
th show at Manchester’s Bowlers
venue received a significant boost today when it was announced that
Liverpool’s Derry Mathews will return to action against an opponent to
be confirmed.
The former British champion possesses genuine aspirations to return
the championship level he occupied earlier this year and he is grateful
for the opportunity provided by the Yorkshire-based promoter.
“To fight on a Dave Coldwell show is a big honour for me and I’ll
thank him for having me by putting on a performance to remember,”
insisted the Liverpool fighter. “I was at Dave’s show on Friday and it
was one of the best events I’ve attended in a while because all the
fights we’re exactly how I like them. Dave has a reputation as a
fan-friendly promoter and the same thing can be said about my style, so
it promises to be another exciting night on December 7
th.”
Coldwell, who will also be showcasing a vast number of his North-West talents on December 7
th,
is delighted to have the former WBU champion starring on his 2012
finale. “To be involved with someone like Derry Mathews is a promoter’s
dream because he’s someone that knows exactly what the fans wish to see.
He’s a popular guy over in Liverpool and he’s already told me that he
plans on bringing big numbers over to Manchester with him on fight night
so it promises to be a special atmosphere. Derry has been involved in
several memorable encounters and I’m confident that he’ll be in another
one on December 7
th.”
