Big punching Canadian David Lemieux experienced defeat for the first time as a professional at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada on Friday night when the experienced Marco Antonio Rubio scored a seventh round tko win.

The 22-year-old Canadian, who had previously boasted an incredible 24 knockouts in 25 bouts, fall to 25-1-(24). Lemieux was in front on all three judges scorecard when he was knocked down. The young prospect scrabbled to his feet but his trainer/manager, Russ Anber, threw in the towel after 2. 36 seconds of round seven

Rubio, who improved his record to 50-5-1, with 43 stoppages has now been installed as the mandatory challenger for the WBC middleweight crown.

On the undercard Adonis Stevenson,14, knocked out Derek Edwards in the third round to win the NABA super-middlweight crown.
