The Fight of the Century? The two
best boxers in the sport? About six million PPV buys speaks volumes
about how the fight was hyped to the extent that you HAD to purchase
this event.
Disappointed with the fight….visit
YouTube for the first Frazier/Ali fight and see if you notice any
similarities. Granted, Pacman is no Joe Frazier but focus on Ali’s
work in the ring.
It’s becoming very clear that
99.9% of the world loves Pacman and hates Mayweather. Ali/Frazier
was split 50:50 but only blood relatives were rooting for Mayweather
in the fight of the century.
Have you learned the difference
between a boxer and a slugger? Boxing’s colorful history has
shown that sluggers get all the publicity and boxers win the fights.
Study the history of Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney.
I first viewed the fight on the
Sunday after the fight via a British Stream. It was a rare treat to
hear a fight being called by a true “blow by blow” announcer and
occasional comments by the analyst. The Brits had over 30 European
experts, including Carl Frosh and Amir Khan, score the fight. All
had Mayweather winning by 117/111 or 118/110, no exceptions.
The British team sounded even
better after listening to the combination of HBO/Showtime boxing
teams. Just too much talk and not enough headspace for all these
“so called” boxing experts. A total waste of time forcing the
paying fans to listen to all the trash talk by the expert
commentators.
The “bug eyed” Max Kellerman
must have been smoking some powerful stuff to suggest that his hero,
Pacman, should be absolved of any punishment for lying to the Nevada
Athletic Commission. Is Pacman above the law? Seems that Kellerman
thinks so….then again he may just be the messenger for HBO since
he works for them and Pacman is their house fighter.
It’s becoming crystal clear that
experts who never fought in the ring are useless. Give me Roy Jones
Jr., Paulie Malignaggi, Carl Froch, and Barry McGuigan over any
experts who haven’t felt the sting of a short right or the crunch
of a good left hook.
Prediction: Pacman recovers from
his excuse and goes on to knockout Marcos Maidana twice and Canelo
Alvarez three times. And yes, he will be humble and say good things
about these two fighters.
Speaking of Canelo….what a
performance on HBO this past Saturday. James Kirkland was his
opponent and he didn’t last long. For those of you who think that
the Triple G has even a remote chance against this future Mexican
Hall of Famer – don’t bet the farm on GGG.
By now team Canelo has discovered
that the G has no defense and never moves his head. He will most
certainly take loads of punishment from Canelo.
That would be a battle of chins,
as in who has the best chin will win the fight.
Then again, maybe team Golovkin is
throwing us the old bamboozle just to get a mega million payday for
Team Golovkin….as in one and done if he takes on Canelo.
Golovkin fights this Saturday on
the Max Kellerman network. Aren’t we so fortunate that Max
invented boxing then blossomed into the Albert Einstein of the
sport?
