Dieppa: "Calderon Won't Be Able To Run"

Former champion Nelson Dieppa (25-4-2, 14KOs) has upset on his mind when he takes on WBO light flyweight champion Ivan Calderon (30-0, 6KOs) on April 5 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

"It motivates me to fight with Calderon. I'm want to take away his unbeaten streak and win the fight. The title doesn't interest me as much. I don't over look his accomplishments. But, the style of Ivan is to run and I am not going to allow that to happen in the fight. You think he can get away for twelve-rounds without touching him once?
At this weight, I'm the real puncher," Dieppa said to Primera Hora.

Calderon holds a win over Hugo Cazares, who twice beat Dieppa. He says the Cazares twist will not reflect the outcome of this fight.

"There are times when a fighter lost to someone and then a past opponent beats him, that doesn't mean I'm going to lose to Calderon. Styles make fights," Dieppa said. "Cazares kept trying to knock him out with head shots and that didn't work. I have to fight a smarter fight."
