Broadway Boxing Results

The return of Lou DiBella's Broadway Boxing took place at BB Kings in New York City last night. It was an upscale, yet very small venue to host a professional boxing show. The fried calamari was sub par, and the dish consisted of primarily unwanted french fries that my colleague Moses Vered gladly devoured, however, the sauce and the fights were very good.

Former world champion Randall Bailey, 37-6, 34 KO's stopped Dairo Esalas, 31-14, 25 KO's in a junior welterweight bout in the main event of the evening that didn't make it out of round number 1. It appeared that a left hand to the body provided the finishing touch on Esalas.

Exciting crowd favorite, Vinny Maddalone, 30-4, 21 KO's entered the ring to the Rocky theme song and was on a mission to dispatch of Joe Stofle, 11-14-2, 9 KO's early. Stofle came to fight, but was outgunned from the start. He was dropped and got up twice before the referee stopped the contest with Maddalone in attack mode. The victory was Maddalone's 3rd since he fought Evander Holyfield.

Junior middleweight James Moore 16-1, 10 KO's, brought back visions of Arturo Gatti when he had Arturo's song, ACDC's "Thunderstruck" played as he entered the ring with Chuck Zito looking on from ringside. However the similarities ended there as Moore picked up the win by unanimous decision over Christian Lloyd Joseph, 12-7-3, 5 KO's (78-74, 78-74, 79-73).

Featherweights- Dat Nguyen, 13-1, 6 KO's won a majority decision over Juan Cruz, 5-3, 1 KO in a very entertaining and hard fought fight (57-57, 59-55, 60-54).

Light heavyweights- Will Rosinsky, (pro debut)scored a knockout over Valentine Fontanelly, 0-3, at 2:10 of round number 1.

Super-Middleweights- Jonathan Nelson, 4-0, 2 KO's won a 4 round decision over Rondu Campbell, 2-1-1.

Lightweights- Ryan Kielczweski, 1-0, won a 4 round decision over Raphael Luna, 0-2-1.
