Legendary promoter Don King announced Wednesday during a press conference that after this weekend’s clash in Cancun, MX, he will be dropping world champion Juan Diaz (33-0 17 KO’s) from his stable after representing the Houston native since 2006.

Juan Diaz, who holds the WBA/IBF/WBO lightweight titles, will be defending his IBF portion this weekend against Nate Campbell (31-5-1 25 KO’s), but after this weekend will be a free agent.

An always candid King didn’t hold back with the reasoning to why he was dropping the twenty-four year old champion, “I have made a decision to no longer promote Juan Diaz after Saturday's fight,” stated King, “and it's not because I wouldn't like to continue to work with Juan. It's for the same reason the esteemed Fred Levin quit. I will no longer work with Juan's manager Willie Savannah."
