Here in the Caribbean paradise of St. Lucia, press and fighters from around the globe gathered for this historic fight card. The buzz is on around the island as prepare to have the international spotlight on this tiny West Indies gem.
“ It feels really good to be a part of this,” said Ashley “Hot Boy” Theophane who fights Marcos Hernandez on the under card. “ I finally get the chance to show the world what I am about.”
Hector Camacho, Jr. “I don’t know much about my opponent but I got the skills to handle it.” On fighting at 168 Camacho says, “ 147 is best for me. I can make 154. Strong. But at 147 I can box.”
Speaking with Virgil Hunter, Andre Ward’s trainer, you get the feeling the work has been done right. “ We’ve done our work,” says Hunter. “ [Cantrell] already seems like the enormity of the situation is getting to him. Mouth is dry, yawning all the time. Leg moving.”
Said Ward “At this point I am just ready to go head to head. I’m ready to fight.”
