At the Classic Kick-Boxing gym in Pasadena, Ca. Bernard Hopkins held an open workout today before a large crowd of assembled media. It was an impressive display of precision and technique from the 43-year-old light heavyweight champion. During the workout, a nearby reporter asked Hopkins if he had plans to face WBC light heavyweight titleholder Chad Dawson who many consider to be Hopkins’ biggest threat next to Joe Calzaghe. Dawson will defend his title this weekend against Glen Johnson on Showtime.

“No. I only fight fighters over 35,” he quipped. “The two of the guys over 35, I already fought. I do consider Chad Dawson to be the future of the light heavyweight division.”

After his workout, Hopkins resumed his interviews with the media. At the end of which, this reporter asked him “Is this (the Calzaghe fight) your last great challenge in boxing?”

“Is this my last great challenge? My last great challenge in boxing is to stay retired,” he answered with a devilish smile.

Stay tuned for the full interview, along with quotes from both Freddie Roach and John David Jackson, as well notes from the workout.
